Importing Moodle calendar into personal calendar for PC and Mac
Subscribing to a calendar

If you use an Outlook calendar, you can have your Moodle calendar events overlaid on top (or placed side by side) by following these steps:

  1. Go to the calendar on your Moodle and click on the Month
  2. Find the Export Calendar button at the bottom
  3. This will bring you to the Export page with options
  4. Under Export, choose All Events
    Under For, choose Recent and next 60 days
  5. click Export -> Get Calendar URL -> Copy the URL

To proceed, follow the below steps depending on your system.

For PC

  1. Open Outlook and go to File->Account Settings drop down menu-> Choose Account Settings
  2. Click on the Fifth tab that says Internet calendars-> Click New.
  3. Paste in the URL you copied from Moodle -> Add
  4. Change the Folder name to Moodle Calendar and Click OK and close.
  5. You should now see another calendar available on the left hand calendar bar, underneath 'My Calendars'. Enable this by checking its box and Outlook will update the calendar every time it opens.
  6. Right-click on the tabs to choose between 'side by side mode' and 'overlay mode'.

For Mac

  1. Open iCal
  2. Click File -> New Calendar Subscription
  3. Paste the URL of the Calendar then click Subscribe
  4. Enter a name for the calendar in the Name field
  5. To get the calendar’s event attachments or alerts, deselect the appropriate Remove checkboxes
  6. Click the Auto-refresh pop-up menu, then choose how often to update the calendar. Choose Everyday
  7. Click Ok
  8. You should now be able to see the events on the calendar

In Moodle create an export file and save it on your computer by following the below steps:

    1. Go to the calendar on your Moodle and click on the Month
    2. Find the Export Calendar button at the bottom
    3. This will bring you to the Export page with options
    4. Under Export, choose All Events
      Under For, choose Recent and next 60 days
    5. click Export -> Get Calendar URL -> Copy the URL
    6. Go to your Gmail -> Click the squares icon at the upper right corner and choose Calendar
      OR
      Go directly to https://calendar.google.com
    7. On the Left hand side pane, Click the arrow besides Other Calendars
    8. Choose Add By URL
    9. A pop up will open. Paste the URL you copied from Moodle and paste it
    10. When done, click Add Calendar
      You should now be able to see the course events on the calendar
